    Good afternoon,

I’m writing to ask if anyone knows what the XML import bug is in FCP 5.0.x that was fixed in 5.1?

The reason I ask is that we use XML import a *lot*, to automate the creation of lots of short clips on one timeline. It’s actually how we make all the on-air presentation announcements for our TV channel. We generate the XML from a Filemaker database, where people can book in presentation against the programme library, place it on a tape, adjust its background video/duration etc and then make a timeline in 20 seconds instead of 4 hours. It does all the captions as well. Neat. Well, used to be.

Now that FCP 5.0.4 has come along our labour-saving system has stopped working and our editors are having to do it manually again, so they complain to me!

If anyone can tell me what the bug was, maybe I can work out what’s broken.

Oh – and in the spirit of sharing, if anyone wants help getting FCP compliant XML out of a Filemaker database, let me know.

    Thanks

    Jeremy Smith

    Jeremy,

I’m very interested in getting FCP compliant XML out of filemaker.
We use filemaker as a logging system on sporting events and although we use a few
clever things like automatic timecode stamping, the above was slightly out of our
    programming expertise.

Rather than post my email here, can you email me off the ‘contact me’ button off my website? Ta.

Many thanks, FYI we are running FCS5.1
