XL2 Noise/Grain! Sample included
Hi guys,
Using a Canon XL2.
I’m VERY new at all this, but desperately need help getting rid of this noise/grain in the darker colors. Seems to happen regardless of light conditions.
Camera is in Manual, gain is set to 0. I’ve tried -3db and it didn’t help. ND Filter is off. I’m at 3.7 and 1/30.

Notice how in the darker colors there seem to be “pixels swimming.” They’re more easily viewable if you zoom in.
Any suggestions? I’ve been ripping my hair out for two days over this.

I saw very similar things with my setup. Unfortunately I was never able to resolve it. My solution was to rent a EOS Rebel T2i for that project, and I just bought my own T3i for future projects.
Perhaps someone more experienced with cameras and lenses might be able to provide a better solution – But I just couldn’t get it to work right – And I was using it for Chroma Key so that grain was a real show-stopper.
