Having some troubles capturing footage. I have been able to capture footage for the past month easily and this problem just appeared randomly. I had already captured footage from a shoot and was rendering when FCP just crashed and closed on me. When I reopened It wouldn’t recognize the camera and is giving me the usual “not hooked up properly, or capture preset not set properly” yet I have the preset at the HDV and everything is the same as before. I even checked the camera and I still have the 1080i/480i output. No idea what is going on.

I do know the camera is being ‘recognized’ by FCP as it shows me that its connected when I try the apple codec HDV capture but that doesn’t allow me to actually capture it.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

Try trashing preferences. That often fixes firewire capture issues.
