  • XH-A1 for $1,269 or $1,339? Is this for real?

On Shopcartusa.com, the Canon XH-A1 is listed for sale ranging from $1,269-$3,699. How can there be such a wide price range and am I right to assume that there must be a catch for the lower price listings?

If a certain price seems too good to be true then it usually is. Stay away from places that have advertised prices that are thousands of dollars less than the competition. They may sell you the camera for less but that’s all you get: no battery or any of the other things in the box that are supposed to be included. Then they’ll make you pay extra for everything else. For comparison, if you need to find out what the everyday low price is on a camera go to someplace reputable like B & H Photo.

That is completely a bogus price. There is no way that any reseller can sell the XH A1 for more than $2000 under MAP. If any reseller is advertising such a low price, it is false advertising and they are definitely not an authorized reseller. I wouldn’t do it. Your hard-earned money is too valuable.

You can always check resellerratings.com at https://www.resellerratings.com to verify the background of any online web retailer. It’s a good way to find out if a shady web retailer has a bad track record from reviews by actual past customers of that retailer. I did a ratings search on “Camera City” which is the retailer who had the $1269 price you mentioned and following are the customer reviews for that retailer:

Would YOU want to do business with this retailer???

All of those super cheap online electronics stores are scams run primarily out of one location in Brooklyn, NY. How they are allowed to continue after so many complaints is beyond me.
