    Hi There all.

So i have made the apparent mistake of purchasing a new laptop (
macBook Pro 2.8ghx intel core 2 duo , 4gb ddr ram running snow leopard 10.6 ) And expecting XDCAM transfer to work.

I have read through the many entries on the thumb nail problem but I don’t even get that far!

I installed 2.11 of XDCAM transfer
    I installed sxs drivers 1045050
I installed XDCAM clip browser Version 2.00.00 (209.409)

the clip browser works fine and dandy but when i start xdcam transfer i get the following

    Error Initializing Database
    failed to compile statement
    1:near – syntax error.

the only other factor that i could think is that its a laptop that i brought in the middle east but I am running in English mode.
    I am running FCP 7.0.1
    and quicktime 10.0 ( 51 )

    any suggestions?

To my understanding this is a Sony software update/Snow Leopard readiness problem, and I have heard they will not be rectifying it until late March, but vaguely remember this. Version 2.11 XDCam Transfer should allow you to at least do the deed with a lot of warnings. But it sounds like you are having trouble. This is why I won’t get Snow Leopard yet, because I have to for Sony.

An alternative is to us XDCam Browser for your ingests and then go to <https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/> and get the appropriate plug in so you can edit those clips directly in FCP without Transfer.

Yeah it’s a minor disaster Sony>Snow Leopard right now. I’d go back to Leopard if you can’t fix the problem otherwise.

Dear all, we are now in July 2010, has Sony solved the problem yet?

I haven’t had any issues in months. Have you updated XDCAM Transfer to 2.12?
Generally people post that Sony has updated something in a new thread.
Test update and report whether the issue is resolved or not.

I am on FCP 6.0 and was on leopard
I had problem with log and capture in HDV from the Sony Z1u with Sony HDV firewire.
I upgraded to snow leopard in order to run the new CSS5 but when try log and capture from usual camera in FCP. 6.0, nothing happens, there is no communication with the device at all.
I tried log and capture in Imovie and Abobe Premiere and it works fine…

What does this have to do with XDCAM Transfer which is the topic of the thread?
