I am using FCP 6.0.3 and XDCam Transfer 2.5.1 to import EX1 clips.

In XDCam Transfer/Video window the clips show as –

    Frame Size: 1920×1080
Codec: XDCam HD 1080i50 (35Mb/s VBR).

After import the clips show in Bin as –

    Frame Size: 2560x1080
    Compressor: XDCam HD 1080i50 (35 Mb/s VBR)

What is causing this scaling error?

Re-scaling to fit the timeline/canvas results in artifacts on diagonals, so I would like to fix this the import process.

    Hi George,
I’m also with FC 6.03 and no prblems.
We don’t you try to import with the XDCAM-Transfer as standalone application. I do it like that and not issues at all.

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1

    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.

check that the “Anamorphic” flag is not being enabled on these clips in error … the extended frame size is consistent with an anamorphic correction:- 1920 x 1.3333 = 2560

Checking the clips in FCP under Item Properties/Format – the anamorphic setting is not checked/enabled.

In XDCam Transfer I don’t see any anamorphic setting, The XDCam Transfer help file only refers to anamorphic in FCP export settings to send the file from FCP back to an XDCam device. Is there a way to turn anamorphic on/off in XDCam Transfer 2.5.1 before sending to FCP?

    George,

Do you happen to have MXF files of XDCAM EX clips, here?

It looks like XDCAM Transfer 2.5.1 handles XDCAM EX correctly in its original .MP4 wrapping, but gets confused when it sees those same codecs in an MXF wrapping.

Good news for you if this is the case, as it seems to be fixed in XDCAM Transfer 2.7.0 –
