XDCAM transfer doesn’t see my archioved BPAV folder files

I copied my BPAV folders from my SXS card to my hard drive. Like I
was tutored in the Vortex DVD.

When I physically open up the folders I can see the MP4 files and meta data in there.

I open XDCAM Transfer 2.1 on my Intel Mac using OS 10.5.2 (Studio 2)
and when I chose the source folder BPAV1, XDCAM Transfer says NO
files are in there. What is wrong?

I even slipped my SXS card with files on it in the slot of my MBPro and I get the same error in XDCAM TRANSFER.

Do any of you guys know what is up with this?

I poke around and can’t intuitively figure this out.

Thanks for any help you can bring, this is rather unsettling in that I bumped
4 sets of SXS files off the card to my drive and now want to see the clips
but can’t, and of course the clips are very important non-repeatable events.

I believe the BPAV folder must be inside another folder.

Yes BPAV must be inside another folder and you should update to XDCAM Transfer 2.5.1

Hey thanks Craig, I got the same tip from Chris and Ken Stone. However I still a problem.

The files now load in XDCAM but I can’t see them, no thumbnails or image in the main viewer.

The one clip still on my SXS card shows on the camera fine but like the archived dumps, it doesn’t show in XDCAM Transfer.

Maybe some setting in 2.5.1 I’m not aware of?

Aloha Bill,

You didn’t rename the BPAV folder something else like BPAV1 that you mentioned in your first post did you? Renaming the BPAV folder causes problems. We make a folder with a date name like 20080421 and copy the BPAV folder and it’s contents into it. If you’re already doing this, ignore this advice as I don’t really have any other ideas. It works fine for us off our hard drive.

Thanks Ken for the advice. I did get the concept of this and have each BPAV folder in a cover folder with the distinguishing name. This appearantly is not my problem still. Thanks anyways. Bill

Aloha Bill,

Bear with me while I ask one more annoying question. Did you install the Sony SxS utility before the transfer utility (I’m sure you did, but just checking). This is the utility that lets the SxS cards be seen by the Mac.

Hey, it turned out that only the latest FCP Studio 2 updates solved my problems.

ProApplicationsUpdate2008-01.dmg from the FCP site did the trick.

Not exactly sure if it was QT or FCP at this point, but making sure people have the latest updates seems to be the key if you’re on studio 2, and OS 10.5.2.
