    Hi,

I have some xdcam (1920 x 1080 ) footage which a client wants on the web as flv. As the only flv encoder I have is ffmpeg I’m exporting as h.264 (640 x 360 streaming for LAN) and then encoding this to flv (800bp/s) …I’m not really happy about the double compression but the quality looks ok… Is there a better way?

    Thanks,

    Johnny

Change the name of the h.264 file from .mov to .flv. Adobe Flash adopted h.264 as codedec of choice some time ago. I have been doing this and posting to the web for months. It seem too easy to be true but it works. Try it.

    Hi Johnatan,
In my experience what ffmpgx do is not a real flv, but a file that Flash can read; an MP4.
ffmpgx is free and can not content a Flash compressor that belongs to Adobe.
As John suggest if you change the extension of an h264 to .flv should be playable with Flash. Also m4v should work.
However there are differences how Flash and QT download the files.
I don’t kow yet the way to hang in a web an h264 that can be read by bought players.
