XDCAM into FCP7 on Yosemite – NO really!
Hi All,
This might sound odd, but stick with me. I’m working with a client that needs to cut XDCAM and XDCAM EX footage in FCP7, but on a brand new MacBook Pro running OS10.10 (Yosemite). FCP7 is actually running fine, but I can’t find an affordable or effective way of re-rapping the XDCAM MXF files for editing with.
We originally used XDCAM Transfer (on an older machine & OS) to get the files into FCP, which worked great, but I can’t get it to install on the new Mac. (The installer apparently thinks we are trying to install on OS 10.1 and not 10.10 and thinks it’s pre-Tiger.)
The newer Sony software – Content Browser & Catalyst – only seem to offer the option of transcoding the footage to ProRes, which hugely bloats the file sizes compared to the re-wrapped MXF files I got before.
Can you clever folk think of another way of getting this footage into the edit? We’re on location needing to turn around edits today and scratching our heads.
Thanks,
Luke
