  XDCAM HD to SD Avid Convert

  Cameraman will be shooting XDCAM HD – (Not DVCAM) – by request. He wants to use his PDW-U1 for capturing.

  I need to ingest this into an older PC Adrenaline Avid running MC 2.1.6. Standard Def – 30i NTSC.

  Am I correct in assuming there is no way to directly import XDCAM HD footage off a PDW-U1 becuase it has no downcovert ability?

  The only way I know of ingesting XDCAM HD into an Avid 30i NTSC is by using a deck -such as the Sony PDW-70 – which has built in downconvert, which would allow direct capturing.

  Does anyone have a better workflow for this?
