Playing back the QuickTime mov created by the XDCAM transfer software on a G5 dual core tower with the media on a RAID. Just playing back in QT, the 16 min clip 720p 59.94, is jerky in seemingly random places. Imported into an XDCAM HD timeline, the clip plays back a little better, but still has random hangups. Audio and video remain linked.

I’m running Final Cut Studio 3. I will check to make sure my computer meets the latest hardware/OS requirements, but I suspect it does.

Anyone having an issue with this??

Also, Compressor (latest) won’t process this file either as a quicktime self contained movie, or from the FCP sequence. I get a “failed” message. Trying to go from HD to SD so I can use DVD Studio Pro. What’s going on?

    Help please! Tomilee

[Tomilee Turner] “G5 dual core tower”

Are you sure about this? Final Cut Studio 3 requires an intel machine…

Which version of XDCAM Transfer are you using?

Sorry, I was WAYYY off on the specs. Here they are:
Mac Pro tower: 2-3GHZ QUAD core Intel Xeon; Memory 10 GB 800DDRZ FB-DIMM

Mac Pro raid card with hardware version 1.0, firmware M-2.0.5.5; 2.67TB with 243GB left.

    Final Cut 7.0; QT 7.6.4; OS 10.5.8

Clip info from the Final Cut browser: 1280X720, data rate 6mb/sec, compressor XDCAM HD 422 720p 60. I’m running the clip off the RAID.

    XDCAM transfer software 2.8.0

Clip imported off the XDCAM HD PDW HD1500 with a 400 firewire connection.

For the Compressor issue (failed compression) Compressor version 3.5

The most recent version of XDCAM Transfer is 2.10.0 – I’d try updating that and see if it makes any difference.
