XDCAM Footage Question
Hi all, I have a quick question about working with XDCAM Footage in Final Cut Pro.
I have figured out how to install the xfer software from sony and import the clips but I would like some pointers for the best way to work with the footage.
I have imported the clips from each card and organized the footage in the project as if each one were an individual tape in a separate bin.
Now, what I would do in Avid is edit the individual clips into their own sequence and work from the sequences in the source monitor as if they were very long tapes, this way I save having to click on each clip one by one as I look for a shot.
I would like to work this way in FCP and have started to do so but here is my problem…
When I make an edit from my ‘clip’ sequence into my master sequence the clip appears on the master sequence as nested, (not sure if this is the correct term) in other words I could insert all 38 clips from one sequence and it would appear on my master sequence as one long nested clip with no edit points.
And the clip is named after the sequence that it came from not the original source clip. Now I know that if I press command while making the edit it will cut in the source clips like it does in Avid but it is a little inconvenient to do this every single time I make an edit.
So my question is this; is there a way to work the way I am used to without having to press 2 keys every time I make an edit?
