Has anyone run into a problem putting Leopard on a new MacPro?

We just finished setting up a new MacPro 8-core to work with XDCAM material from a F800 via a PDWF1600 deck along with some EX files.
The MacPro shipped with Snow Leopard which, as we all know, doesn’t work well with current Sony XDCAM Transfer. We needed Leopard but the new MacPro wouldn’t boot from a retail 10.5.6 disk. We used another MacPro to load a partition with 10.5.6 and updated it to 10.5.8. Back in the new MacPro 10.5.8 would boot. With a clean install of FCS3 and the latest XDCAM Transfer all is working fine. We will leave 10.6.1 alone until Sony, Matrox, et.al. finish their updates for Snow Leopard.

To get 10.5.8 as a startup on partition on a nehalem we needed to 1-Removed the partitioned HD from the Nehalem.
2-Mount it on a Mac Pro running 10.5.8.
3-Install a retail version of 10.5.6 on the partition and then upgrade 10.5.6 to 10.5.8.
    4-Re-install back in the nehalem.

Now we have a 10.5.8 startup for the Nehalem Mac Pro that we can use with Sony Transfer. We will use this until Sony comes up with a Snow Leopard version of Transfer.

XDCAM Transfer for Snow Leopard Now Available.

This message from Sony reach me tonight :

New version of XDCAM Transfer 2.11 is now posted to our support site this version supports new features of new XDCAM EX products and as well for XDCAM EX ONLY it will work under Apple Snow Leopard – Unfortunately the FAM driver for XDCAM optical HD and 422 products will not work under Snow leopard at this time and requires more development work – It will likely be until March for it, along with full support for our software on Windows 7. There will also be very soon a new version of the LOG&Transfer Plugin for FCP under Snow Leopard.
