I received some footage shot in the XDCAM EX format for the first time. I downloaded from Sony the XD Cam transfer plugin (version 2.5.1) And when I try to install I get a message saying that the disk image is not recognized. I meet all the listed requirments (OS 10.6.7 and FCP 7.0.3) Any ideas on where I’m going wrong?

Open it by Toast and proceed with installation as usual. If toast failed chances are that you downloaded corrupted file.

Thanks, but I don’t have Toast… and I got the exact same error message on a second Mac…

Thanks, that did it. Now I just need to get the import procedure straight. I’ll check the Sony page. I appreciate your help

    Hi Kim,
Make sure you download the last stuff (I think is v.2.12).
There is a big mess of old versions hanging on the web.

Thanks for the heads up Rafael. I downloaded a version 2.5.1 but now I’ll go back and check for a more recent plugin. The link I was given for Sony was so “un-Sony” – very confusing and hard to discern which plugin to install.

You can download the plugin for fcp at the bottom of this Dutch page:

    Hi Kim,

We receive a lot of XDCAM footage as .MP4 files. This software has been useful, enabling us to open the files in multiple programs (including FCP):

Not sure if it will be applicable to your situation, but it might be worth trying a demo if the Sony software doesn’t work (or is a pain to use).
