I have some great footage that was shot on the EX1 that I’ve transfered to Final Cut. It’s Apple XDCAM EX 1080p24 35 MB/s VBR and plays fantastic. It’s green screen, so I exported it, in the same codec, brought it into After Effects CS3 and added some effects, graphics, etc. I exported these files from AE in the same codec, put them into FCP, and they did not play. I can see them, but I can’t scroll through the timeline or play it. Whenever I try to do either of these things, the color wheel appears and stays for 40+ seconds. When I play it, once the color wheel disappears, it jumps forward a few frames and freezes again. I have no idea why, it’s the same settings same code, I’ve triple checked it. When I throw it into the original timeline, there is no red or orange line telling me to pre render it. The files are not even particularly large, and the they play in quicktime. I’ll add though that these files also slowed down AE when I tried putting them back in there, though it wasn’t freezing nearly as much as FCP.

I thought my laptop was just slow and took it to work to try on the iMac with the same result. After a while I gave up and just edited it with the video turned off, using the original greenscreen video as a guide (which still plays fantastic). Even turned off, when I made cuts to the AE exported video, FCP would freeze for 30 seconds or so. I then set to render, hoping it would look decent. The render time kept going up and up and eventually, after rendering for four hours, said there was 8 hours remaining. I let it run overnight and when I came in today it wasn’t rendered. I have no idea what happened to it, as no one at work seems to know if it died or if someone just closed the render.

Either way I am really frustrated, I really need this rendered, and regardless of maybe someone canceling it, this project is only about 3 minutes in length and should not take such a long time to render it’s ridiculous.

So please help if you know anything!!!
