    Hi,

I’d planned on shooting my doc on my xdcam ex but as my DOP has just bought a disc based XDcam and wants to use it I guess I’ll be combining footage in the timeline. Does anyone know if there’s any problems doing this???? (I’ll make sure to shoot the same format but isn’t the disc stuff 1440 as opposed to 1920 on the ex??)
    Thanks,
    Johnny

Yeah, you’re right about the format differences. I think I’d transcode it all to ProRes and be done with it.

How about I shoot 720p50 on both??? might help. Delivery is SD digi anamorphic.
I’ve never used pro res much, my ingest is as files so I guess I’d have to media manage (which is something I’ve always avoided) is it hard?
    Thanks,

Probably wise to do a bit of testing before the shoot…

I do file/format conversions as I injest through the log and transfer window if possible, or use Compressor to change formats… probably best to go DOWN in size to match, but if you shot the same size… you’d likely be happier.
