When trying to import XDCAM files thru FCP, each time I click on SONY XD Cam in the import menu, FCP crashes.

I’m assuming that you’ve already downloaded the plug-in required to Log and Transfer XDCam footage using FCPro, if not you can find it here.

    https://www.sony.ca/xdcamex/software.htm

If you already have the plug-in, there is also Sony’s XDCam Transfer and XDCam EX Clip Browser software you can use to convert the footage to another FCP friendly format.

I have used the XDCAM transfer app to wrap the EX clips, then imported those clips into FCP browser without a problem. I thought it should be a one-step process from FCP, and shouldn’t cause FCP to crash, and therefore wondered if there is a problem with the computer, the program, or the operator.

[Steve Cain] ” I thought it should be a one-step process from FCP,”
    It should be.
Trash your FC Preferences and see if its works.

Trashing preferences made no difference. I spoke to Sony some time ago about this problem, and they could not figure it out either. I am just wondering if anyone else had ever had this occur.

Latest build of XDCAM Transfer is 2.10.0 – might be worth updating.

Download the xdcam transfer application from Sony:
    https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-software-model-XDZP1.aspx

Once installed, from FCP import clips from Sony XDCAM which will be an option in your import menu.

Thanks — nice to know I have company in my misery! What equipment do you have, and are you transferring directly from the camera or from a hard drive to which the files have been transferred?
