October 6, 2009 at 9:17 pmI’m assuming that you’ve already downloaded the plug-in required to Log and Transfer XDCam footage using FCPro, if not you can find it here.
https://www.sony.ca/xdcamex/software.htm
If you already have the plug-in, there is also Sony’s XDCam Transfer and XDCam EX Clip Browser software you can use to convert the footage to another FCP friendly format.

October 6, 2009 at 9:55 pmI have used the XDCAM transfer app to wrap the EX clips, then imported those clips into FCP browser without a problem. I thought it should be a one-step process from FCP, and shouldn’t cause FCP to crash, and therefore wondered if there is a problem with the computer, the program, or the operator.

It should be.
Trash your FC Preferences and see if its works.

October 8, 2009 at 1:28 pmTrashing preferences made no difference. I spoke to Sony some time ago about this problem, and they could not figure it out either. I am just wondering if anyone else had ever had this occur.

October 26, 2009 at 3:21 pmDownload the xdcam transfer application from Sony:
https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-software-model-XDZP1.aspxOnce installed, from FCP import clips from Sony XDCAM which will be an option in your import menu.

October 27, 2009 at 8:27 pmThanks — nice to know I have company in my misery! What equipment do you have, and are you transferring directly from the camera or from a hard drive to which the files have been transferred?
