I’m not talking about the rolling shutter in the beginning that is really apparent since I used a bit of FCP’s smoothcam in post. But at 2:12 there’s no smoothcam and it seems like the 5d mark ii can’t handle the fast movement. almost feels like it’s skipping frames but it’s not. Could it be the vintage manual medium format hasse lens? Or do I need a faster lens/more light so i could up the shutter? or is it just the way a dslr sensor is? I’m aware that the 5d + fast motion is not exactly an ideal combo..

I have a system, it has stuff in it, and stuff hooked to it. I have a camera, it can record stuff. I read the manuals, and know how to use this stuff and lots of other stuff too.
    You should be suitably impressed…

I’m not seeing anything other than typical wobbliness expected with CMOS sensors. What should I be looking for?

the arms are not moving in fluid motion.
there’s a subtle but unintentional “effect” that’s definitely there.
Am I really the only one seeing it?
Not sure how to explain it, I’d say if you’d look at every one of those 30 frames, some of the frames will have the arms partially missing.. That’s what it feels like.

That is the very definition of rolling shutter.

This has to be the most pretentious piece of art “BS” that I’ve seen in a long time.
All that’s missing is Yoko Ono!

Rolling shutter? Puhleeze! I didn’t even get that far.

    Mark,
This has to be the most pretentious piece of art “BS” that I’ve seen in a long time.
Yeah, I got that vibe from the first couple of seconds, so TL;DW for me too. I wish people would just post the section with the problem so I don’t have to waste a bunch of time.
Just waited for it to buffer up, and watched 2:10-2:14.

All that’s missing is Yoko Ono!
    Yoko, and the fly.

Rolling shutter? Puhleeze! I didn’t even get that far.
Saw the “NOT rolling shutter” bendies, and also some tearing, which made me think h.264 timeline, since they didn’t know about the CMOS shutter either.
But other than all those artifacts, the 5DII makes a great picture right?

i got hired to cover an event.
what does the content have to do with my post.
If you would like to see my personal work IMDB me. ( Man Without A Head )
And good luck with your television work, I’m sure it’s high art.

[Johnny Smith] “Mark Raudonis – you are an idiot.”

Perhaps… but I stand by my original comment.

[Johnny Smith] “what does the content have to do with my post.”

Well, I couldn’t see any technical flaws in the image because I was so stunned by the content!

[Johnny Smith] “i got hired to cover an event.”

Hey, we all need to get paid.

[Johnny Smith] “And good luck with your television work, I’m sure it’s high art.”

    Thank you.

    Mark
