    Happy Holidays everyone!

Question: I am cutting a quicktime movie, H.264, and when I render any effect I get a “wrong codec” error message. I believe my sequence settings are correct. the clips play back fine but effects will not render at all. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your input.

H.264 is a delivery codec, not an editable one. You need to convert the file into an editable codec. A full list of what FCP supports is in the EASY SETUP list. But I suspect that converting to DV would be your best option.

Just open the file in QT Pro and export it with those settings.
