writing with chalk
Hi.
I am currently creating a promo where I’m trying to have a piece of chalk write on a chalkboard. I watched Aaron R.’s tutorial showing how to write with pencil, and it worked brilliantly for the first illustration. However, I wanted the piece of chalk to pick up after the first illustration was finished being drawn in and move over to write text. Now, when I try to do this, after creating the masks and the stroke, and then pasting the mask shape into the position keyframe for some reason my chalk doesn’t actually move to where the text is located. It starts writing way to the left. Any suggestions on what I should do? A null object maybe?

You’re making the same mistake countless folks have done – that is to create a mask shape and then to paste it onto a layer of a different size. Ensure that both masked layer and position-ed layer are of the same size and you should be fine.
