  • Wrapping 3D layers around objects

    Hi,

I’ve looked around a lot but I cannot find anything that helps me with my particular problem.

I have a Illustrator image of the United Kongdom. This is an object I wish to put in the middle and have a filmstrip going around it. Meaning that the back of the strip would go behind the image and the front – in front.

I’ve tried using the ‘CC Cylinder’ and ‘3D rotate around circle’ presets in After Effects. I’ve also ticked the 3D layer box on composition timeline.

    How do I do this???

    Check out 3D serpentine:

However, you can also use Free Form for true 3D warping.

You can also get away with having the map layer sandwiched in between 2 film strip layers- one for the part behind the map that cuts off right where the strip curves back, and another for the front of the strip, from where in curves back and comes in front of the map.
