I’m trying to put together a quick animation of a hoagie/sub/sandwich (whatever you call it in your region) where it starts out wrapped in paper, and then the paper unrolls to reveal the hoagie inside. This doesn’t have to look perfect as I’m using a simple cel shaded look and the animation will be quick, but I’m just trying to avoid as much overlapping geometry as possible.

Where I’m getting stuck is how to roll the ends up. Right now I start with a plane and use a bend deformer to roll it up to the point where it sort of looks like a cannoli shell (see pic). But then I want to curl in both ends of that roll.

I’ve tried additional bend deformers on the ends, but the geometry gets kind of funky with that. I’ve also messed around with pose morphs, but that will be cumbersome.

If anyone has a better idea, I’d love to hear it. Thanks.
