  • World Axis to Local Axis Orientation

    Hello world !
this is Kris ,im brand new/noob in here and im feeling honored to be a part of this community ! thank you for leading me and inspirations over the years .

    ———————————————————————

i would love to have an precise control over the orientation . Yes it is precise but im struggling with axis relation of what i see as gizmo .
i would really really really like to orientate in 3D without using Rotation Tool for the sake of having this specified Local Axis mode .

Is there a way to calculate angles from World Axis to Local Axis ?

Lets say i will use 3 sliders XYZ ,
so when i change object’s Y angle i can still orientate X angle considering “his” local axis . this way i could be more precise and intuitive ,also i would be able to put exact values .

Would be fantastic if someone had some ideas that could share with me .

ps:ive had a hard time to find some clue how to solve the problem, perhaps im not able to describe it really well ,so im sorry if there was a discussion about such scenatios in the past

    much love
    K

I’m sure the math exists to do it with an expression, but I don’t think I have it anywhere.

Here’s what I would recommend: Use two 3D nulls that start out at the same position and orientation as your object. Make Null 1 the parent of the object, and make Null 2 the parent of Null 1. Use Null 2 for x rotation, Null 1 for y roation, and the object for z rotation.

    Hello Dan !

thanks for the reply and the idea,
sure ,ive been doing these workarounds ,but you can imagine how messy the composition can become ,i would love to avoid extra layers when possible.

    …still brainstorming
