MacPro5,1, 8×2.4 Ghz, 6GB Ram, Quadro FX4800, GeForce 8800, Decklink HD Extreme 3D , MAXX EVO 2k, ProPlasma, Tangent Wave.SLOT CONFIG.
Slot-1: Quadro FX4800
Slot-2: GeForce 8800
Slot-3: ATTO ExpressSAS R380
Slot-4: Decklink HD.I had an 8800 so I had to try, I have been doing heat tests before and after, with Slot-2 empty and Slot-2 with the GeForce 8800.
I know one of the problems is a lot of people are using the GeForce GTX 285 and it requires two power sources and the GT 120 requires none, so you couldn’t have the GeForce 8800 and the GeForce GTX 285, BUT Quadro FX4800 only requires 1 power source and GeForce 8800 requires 1 as well, so its enough power.
Anyway, that is what I am running, doing tests etc. It seems to be running fine and all the heat tests don’t seem that much hotter.
Any Thoughts?

Did the 8800 just drop into your 09 MacPro? I mean did you have to alter it, or was it previously altered to work. I ask because Apple tech said it wouldn’t work in the MacPro5.

Nevermind… I answered my own question. Apparently the Apple techy didn’t know about a gen2 version of the 8800.
