    Hi,

I realise that this question could be asked in several forums but I thought I’d start here anyway.

I usually render my animations to TIF sequences using the PAL Widescreen 1.42 pixel size preset and I use quite low threshold anti-aliasing to get a good result. Upon inspecting the resulting image files, everything looks perfect in terms of quality of edges/sharpness etc.

If I import these results into After Effects/Premiere Pro using PAL Widescreen format, I lose a lot of the sharpness for some reason and lines appear on the edges of some objects.

I want to get the quality I see in Cinema4D into MPG files and/or onto DVD. Can anyone recommend the best way to achieve this?!

    Many thanks.

Are your AE or premiere projects interlaced?

Well I mean just after importing the TIF sequences into AE or Premiere. The preview windows show my animations with the lower quality before I’ve even tried to render anything from those applications.

Both those applications need to at least render a preview to show full res of your image sequence.
Your C4d render is progressive and will be sharper than an interlaced image. If you are in an interlaced timeline or project it may (depending on prefrences) be defualted to convert your project into fields.

But I interpret the footage correctly and I don’t set anything for interlacing. I’ve noticed that by creating a project in HDTV format 720 25, the TIF sequence appears as I expect (although I have to scale it up).

HDTV at 25fps is interlaced. 720*50 is progresive.
