  • Working with audio tracks of master clips in Project Browser/Viewer (rather than Seq)

Am organizing files in prep for editing a feature — and am facing a lovely no audio TC double system fandango (good TC only on the video and camera audio tracks).

I am trying to remember the trick was for:

Q1 • How do I bring in stereo tracks as two mono tracks? Or modifying them to make them dual mono tracks (centered) in FCP?

Note, I’m wanting to do this work in the project window and viewer rather than in a seq, as I’ll be doing “merging clips” for the next few days in the browser window. Why, oh, why didn’t the field sound mixers just put their lavs into the camera? — instead each DVCPRO HD vid asset has two to four blank tracks. Wah.

    “Bonus” question —
Q2 • Can I “kill” those blank tracks in the Viewer somehow previous to merging clips or only when I bring this stuff into a sequence?

    Thanks!
    Matt
