working with 300 dpi in AE for 2K video project that need to be transfered to FILM
Hello Cow members,
I am working on 2K 2040x 1152 pixel (16:9 ) project that need to be transfer to Film at the end. My editor told me that i should import still images with 300 dpi because it’s going to be transfered to film. He’s basically saying zoom in looks way better with 300 dpi image in AE. What i’ve been doing instead is that i changed all of 300 dpi image to 72 dpi in photoshop and i changed the size to bigger than 2040 pixel in width for image so that i can have more room to zoom in or panning, tilting. All the images i imported has been scanned in 300~ 600 dpi And, they are bigger than 2040 x 1152 pixel in size. So, i was able to change the size of image without losing resolution even though i lower the dpi number. I remember i once work with 300 dpi images by accident in AE it was way too big to handle in AE. it just makes work flow so slow. I am pretty sure my editor got wrong information on this. But, i need an official prove to shut him off. Please help me to confirm this 300 dpi vs 72 dpi theory for film transfer. Thanks in advance.
