workflow question for Quicktime
Hi, we’re in the process of digitizing our old 3/4″ and 1″ tapes to Quicktime files for digital archiving and storage purposes.
My question is about retrieving select parts of this footage for editing on our Symphony edit systems. We have no shared storage beyond a simple RAID. Lets say I have a 30 minute QT file and all that I want to use as a source clip is :15 of the file.
What is the best way to import just the :15 portion I need without importing the whole 30 minutes?

Use AMA to access the clip. Load that clip into the Preview monitor…mark the section you want. Make a subclip. Then Transcode just that subclip to DNxHD.

Also make sure source settings are correct for black/white levels beforehand depending on original QT source.
