Workflow for Multicam with clips that are split into multiples.
Hello, I need to shoot and edit a 20 to 30 min multicam event. I assumed that using the multiclip edit mode would make the most sense for this project. I have just recently purchased two Dr-HD100 Firestores to record my cameras to disk. I was getting ready to try a test edit when I realized that due to the 2gb fat 32 limit, the firestores break the clip into multiples every 9 minutes. How can I rejoin these and still edit the seminar in multiclip mode. I was wondering if I could reassemble each camer in a sequence and then multiclip with sequences but I have not yet found a way to do this… Does anyone know a workflow that would work for something like this or are my firestores useless in this sort of project. How about using “make multiclip sequence” instead of “make multiclip”?
Take a look in the manual, Part II page 250.

can you re-format the firestore? (seems crazy if you cant)
other than that the easiest way to do this is to string the clips back together in FCP, and export as self contained files.
reference files will work, but it;s just not quite as rock-solid, in that there’s a chance you could lose one of the original files, and then the reference is broken.
if this is a quick turn-around thing, then ref files should be OKafter export, double check that the exports have the correct TC and reel#
then multiclip away

But the files are joined, still, aren’t they? If you open the first one, won’t it play through the rest of them?
Either way, if your timecodes match (match the cameras and shoot in free-run) then you’ll have an easy time with multiclip. Are you able to do free-run?
