Workflow for 24p HD to Internet media with FCP

I shot a 1 hour 49 minute presentation with the EX3 camera at 720/24p HQ. I imported the footage directly into FCP via log and transfer, and now want to export a high quality internet project. I used the quick time conversion to output a broadband low, mp4 file and this took several hours. When I try to do the same at broadband high, it has taken 15 hours to get 31% of the project. Is there a way to lessen the time? Is there a better format for internet presentation on a website? Thanks for your help. I’m moving from a DVX100A and PC NLE to the EX3 and FCP.

That is a long video and it will take a while, but here are few things that might help.
1) Did you render the timeline before exporting with a check mark by “Full” in the Render All dropdown menu?
2) Quicktime conversion is neither high quality nor fast. So, first render as I mention above, then export using Quicktime Movie >> current settings. Then import that into Compressor and export using one of the many available presets. Typically h.264 is the preferred codec for web video, although it is a pretty slow compressing. This should be faster than your previous method however.
