    Hello,

Witch preset do I have to use to capture HD Cam 1920×1080 50i footage with 25 fps and interlaced in upper???
I don’t find a HDTV preset witch gives me de correct 1920×1080 size! Not in easy setup and not in audi/video settings?

And I am a bit confused with the capture preset, sequence preset and the device control preset.
They should all have the same settings, no ??? But I can’t choose the same settings.

    thanks a lot

DO you have an HD Capture card? If so, which one?

And this all depends…how much drive space do you have? how much footage? Are the drives fast enough to handle uncompressed files? Are you needing an offline resolution to cut creatively, then go back and re-capture when you have locked picture?

    Hey,

    I don’t have a capture card. Its a G5 with 2 x 2,4 GB processors with 4 or 8 nucleos and 8 GB Ram and
    Final Cut Studio 2.
I have enought space to archivate. I don’t need to offline because I have to track the Full Hd footage and make the effect shots in After Effects.
I can work with low playback video quality and quarter playback frames in Final Cut to make the edit. At least I hope that it will work so.
So what is the correct capture setting HDTV ??? or DVCPRO ???
Later when I drag the footage in the sequence FC puts automaticaly the best sequence and playback settingh, no?
Its shot on HD Cam sony 650.

    thanx

[Felix Frank] “I don’t have a capture card”

Then you cannot capture HDCAM…not as HD. A couple decks have firewire outputs, like the JH-3, but that outputs a DV signal only. The only HD decks that you can capture HD via firewire are HDV and DVCPRO HD decks.

[Felix Frank] “I don’t need to offline because I have to track the Full Hd footage and make the effect shots in After Effects. “

Then you want to capture as ProRes or Uncompressed HD, and to do that you need an HD capture card, like the AJA Kona series, or Black-Magic Decklink series.

[Felix Frank] “So what is the correct capture setting HDTV ??? or DVCPRO ???”

ProRes, Uncompressed HD…DVCPRO HD. ProRes is better, as it is 10-bit an full raster, opposed to DVCPRO HDs 8 bit and 1280×1080 anamorphic setting. But, I would test several settings if I were you…see what you like best.

Bottom line, you need an HD capture card.
