Due to some clients that need .wmv files I have been exporting my DVCPro 720p files thru FCP in the .wmv format that is small enough in file size to send them movies for approval viewing thru You Send It. I hate using .wmv, but I don’t have much choice with these clients.

All has been well for a few months, now when I try to export a .wmv, the movie gets 98% done with 10 seconds left and freezes up. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

Corruptions! I have run into this many times and I fully agree with you on wmv files. They can sometimes work and most often they are awful. I suggest making a tape of the program and re-batching the edited program and making codecs from that. If you’re using Final Cut it will get buggy and more buggy and soon you will have to trash your preferences because of these files, which is no big deal, but soon you may not even be able open up the FCP file. I’ve had this happen. Making a tape and re-batching may be a mindless work-around, but on those sleepy nights when you need to get that thing out the door and you don’t need another obstruction, you may as well eliminate the unseen obstacle.
