I’m a fairly new Vegas user and editor in general. I learned a ton from the “Absolute Training” videos-but that was version 8. Are the gurus planning on making some up-to-date training videos for the rookies out there like me? I’d buy them! Also, can someone tell me what’s the price for the new pro 10 if I already own version 9?

Thank you for purchasing the “Absolute Training” videos. Vegas hasn’t really changed much since version 8… and with a program as extensive as Vegas Pro it gets very costly to keep re-doing training when 90% is the same information. This is why we don’t call it “Absolute Training for Vegas n”. It is really meant to be version independent.

Yes, we create “What new in Vegas n+1” training so that people can quickly learn just what’s new in the latest version and not have to repurchase training that they already have.

The idea is similar to encyclopedia sales (if anyone actually remembers encyclopedias) where you can buy a new book each year with just that years new information. Eventually, things will change enough in Vegas to warrant updating the entire training series but other than the color of the interface being darker in Vegas Pro 9, it’s pretty much just Vegas Pro 8 with some new features.

Also, can someone tell me what’s the price for the new pro 10 if I already own version 9?

    According to Sony’s New Release:

Upgrades from previous versions of Vegas Pro are available for U.S.$249.95 from https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com

What Sony usually does is run a special sale for early adopters so it may even be cheaper than that for the first 60 days or so. If you are a registered Vegas Pro user, watch your email for an offer within the first few days of release.

Thanks for the info John. Here’s another crazy thought/question for you: Has Sony ever “sponsored” a filmmaker? With my first feature film I recently became a semi-finalist in the largest film festival in the nation (for my genre). The final judging will be in a month but I’m already receiving emails from national distributors asking to see the film. The fact that I’m a proud Vegas user…do you think Sony would have any interest in a sponsorship of any kind? I’m looking for free software/etc in exchange for promoting Vegas. It’s just a thought. Any advice? Thanks!

First, CONGRATULATIONS Mike!!! That’s really great to hear. I wish you luck in the upcoming judging.

Second, it never hurts to ask. If you shot it with Sony cameras I woud approach Sony Broadcast. If you only use Sony software I would approach Sony Creative Software. Even if they can’t sponsor you, they may want to highlight you in their monthly newsletter that they mail out. If memory serves my right they did that for Duce of Spades. It’s always worth it to put yourself out there and see what happens. Good Luck.

It did shoot it on a Sony camera also. I might just look into it. Thanks!
