Will FCP6 open FCP3
I’m trying to open a FCP 3 file in FCP 6, but I keep getting the message: “Unable to open project file.” Should FCP 6 be able to open FCP 3 files. Could the file be getting corrupted somehow?

It’s very possible that the file is corrupted. Where did it come from? How was it brought to you? If it was emailed to you, this is a common problem. Have the client make a zip archive of the file & email it to you again.

It was brought to me via firewire drive… after some investigation, I found out it is a MS-DOS formatted drive. I’m assuming this is probably where the problem is?

Apparently the MS-DOS drive was the problem… I reformatted the drive to MAC OS Extended, and had them recopy FCP project onto the newly formatted drive, and everything is now good to go.
