I have an AJ-SD930 deck with SDI but I don’t have the IEEE1394 option. Will FCP HD be able to capture and remove advanced pull-down from footage shot on the SDX900 and DVX100a?

    Thanks,

    Eric

AFAIK no- you’ll need to use CinemaTools for this.

Thanks, so I’ll use CinemaTools. Are there any drawbacks or caveats that I’m going to run into from not using Firewire to capture?

    Regards,
    Eric

Only in terms of workflow. Clip by clip pulldown removal takes much more effort than automatic. I’d highly advise getting the 1394 option for the deck if this is more than a few hours of footage.
