  • Will FCP 4.5HD Work on an old Macbook that has no Graphics Card?

I have an old Macbook. It has no AGP or PCI card installed. I cannot find any “upgrades” for this laptop–is it upgradble? Does anyone have an old Macbook functioning with FCP HD 4.5? I know the Macbook Pro will work as well as the new Macbooks with the Nvidia Geforce 9400M graphics card…I’m specifically talking about an older Macbook with none of these bells and whistles..

How can it NOT have a graphics card? How do you see anything? If it displays an image on the computer monitor, it has a graphics card. That is it’s job…displaying.

Thanks Shane–I should have worded my Subject better. Should have said “…that has no AGP or PCI Card”. When I try and launch FCP ..I get a no AGP card response…The unit also has no PCI card.

[Misha Anissimov] “I get a no AGP card response”

    I think that’s your answer.

But, really, you’re trying to run an app designed for a Power PC Mac OS 10.3 on an Intel Mac that can’t run any os before 10.4. That’s bound to be a world of trouble and pain, no matter what.

FCP 4.5 is an OLD version that is NOT Intel compatible.

Thanks Zane. Which version would you recommend for this laptop? I don’t really need a lot of bells and whistles and don’t have much dough to invest. Just something basic to get me through a filmmaking course…

5.1 is the earliest version for Intel Macs. It will be nearly impossible to find. 7.x is the current version.
