Wiggle points in a path
Posted by Andreas Ruso on December 6, 2015 at 4:48 pmHi there! Is there a script or a way to do a wiggle expression on some points of a path in a shape?
Lets say there is 30 points, and i want 5 of those to wiggle.
Thanks!Michael Szalapski replied 6 years, 3 months ago 5 Members · 5 Replies -

I usually go with a puppet-pin solution.
If it is a non-filled shape with straight lines, you can use nulls and a bunch of beam effects to draw the lines.

December 6, 2015 at 7:46 pmThanks! I actually tried with puppet tool linked to nulls, but as 3D layer and camera the shape layer got broken. Pre-comp solved this issue. Didnt think of that. Thanks for your answer Kalle.

I know you’ve already solved the issue, but there is a third-party solution:

February 1, 2020 at 3:44 pmYou could also use the “Points Follow Nulls” tool in the “Create Nulls From Paths” script that is built into AE.
This will create a null for each point of your shape and the points will follow their respective nulls. You can then add a wiggle expression only to the nulls you want to have move in random patterns.
All the best,
Marc
