WIERD P2 A/V SYNC ISSUE
Not sure if this post should go here or on the FCP page, but here’s the scenario: shot multiple cards worth of p2 footage at 720p 29.97. Xfr’d footage to a NAS storage unit. Used “Log And Transfer” to convert and import into fcp 6. All of the cards transfer fine except one. On this particular card, all of the footage plays fine in Log & Transfer, but once imported, the video is running very slow (looks like about 33% of normal) and the audio is running a little FAST (maybe 120%).
We were able to work around the issue using an app called HD LOG. HD log does the file conversion (to a QT file) through EXPORTING the XML file rather than IMPORTING it. It works, but is a big time waster.
Has anybody come across this problem before? Is there a solution? (I don’t feel that it’s a bad card as it played fine in both the HD Log and the Log & Xfer windows, AND it exported successfully from HD Log).

We have a similar problem. Our video is coming back @20% faster from the P2 cards. We also shot on a Firestore drive and that footage is fine. (Unfortunately, we filled the P2 cards and then switched over to the firestore) This is the first time we’ve encountered this problem using the P2 cards. The footage on the P2 cards plays fine from the camera, but as soon as we import into FCP 6.02, it’s out of sync.

What format did you shoot in and what format is your timeline?

We shot 720P 30. Timeline is HD format (Seq presets/Capture Preset 720p30) 29.97.
Actually, I think I may have been wrong about the speed. The video may be playing slower. (At least on my latest test on a FCP 5.0 system). When I tried to import with my FCP 6.02, I thought it was faster, but I may have been wrong.
Like the above post I was able to use HD Log (demo) to transfer one of the P2 clips and it was in sync.
