Wierd issue’s with FCP, and Sony FX1…
Hello, this is going to be my first post here, so please bear with me. I am an avid Final Cut Pro user and have been for the past 4-5 years (I’m only 20) I have always used a Canon GL2 for my shooting. I recently upgraded to a Quad g5, 4 gig of ram, Dual 500gig harddrives, upgraded Video card, etc. etc. etc. I also got rid of my GL2 and purchased a Sony FX1 HDV cam. This, inlines my prob.
I have used final cut on my new computer for a few projects, all being shot in DV with my GL2. It worked perfectly. Then, I got my fx1 in and just used it to “capture” from some tapes that were in DV format from the gl2 that, once again, worked perfectly.
I finally got a chance to use the FX1 and shoot it in HDV but, final cut pro says it cant read it and nothing is connected. I changed the capture settings from DV-NTSC to HDV1080i60 and a few others (cant remember off the top of my head) but nothing worked. I was in a time crunch, so i capture it in imovie HD and it worked perfect. So i just made a folder, put the clips in there, and imported the folder into my Bin in FCP. Besides super slow render speeds (assuming b.c. they are out sourced clips?) it works…
I am stuck, and puzzled. Is there a driver i need to install for this camera, or am i just a retard and doing something obviously wrong?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a lot!
