    Widescreen ?

    Newbie on using Vegas … captured a bundle of SVHS tapes as DV files, edited some up, now getting to burn first DVD.

    I am unsure about what settings to use in properties ..

    Typically they will be watched on widescreen TV form a standalone player.

    As they could also be watched on a non-widescreen TV … what setting should I use PAL DV 720 x 576
    or PAL DV widescreen 720 x 576

    Want to make best I can, but be compatible

    Since your footage is coming from SVHS tapes, it is very likely that your footage is not widescreen. So in that case you shouldn’t make your project widescreen. Just make your projectsettings similar to your footage.

    Keep everything 4:3 throughout. Should play with columns on widescreen TVs and normally on 4:3 tvs.
