A friend of mine and I videoed a wedding. His camera is a sony HD harddrive and mine is a sony HD tape. when i loaded both of our versions to the timelines. Mine was in widescreen format and his was in letter box format. he has since deleted his off his hard drive. is there a way I can get both versions into one format? I really don’t care which format, widescreen or letterbox.

    Thanks

Are you sure the letterbox version is in HD? I don’t believe HD has a letterbox feature as HD is widescreen. You can downconvert to SD as letterbox however.

SD= Standard definition. If you open one of his files in Vegas and right click and go to properties- what do you see? Is it HD resolution or SD?

Downconvert: your camera should have an option to downconvert the footage from your camera to standard definition utilizing a letterbox format. That would be the easiest solution for matching the footage. If your camera does not have that feature, you will need to capture the HD footage and downconvert it utilizing the software (basically you will render out to a standard definition template in Vegas such as DV AVI).
