Why Won’t Vegas 10 import Sony HDV files
Posted by John Perez on December 9, 2014 at 3:32 amIn Capture it says it isn’t reading the camera, not identifying it. I’m using firewire connection. Why isn’t Vegas capture finding my camera, a Sony HDV Handycam 1080i progressive?
As always thanks so much to you guys…Johnny In Orlando

December 9, 2014 at 4:32 amYou have to use the HD capture option. If all you’ve been using so far are SD cameras, go Options > Prefs > Video and deselect the Use external video capture application option.
Now click the capture icon and the HD capture window should pop up.FYI, a lot of users prefer to use HDVSplit instead of the Vegas app.

December 9, 2014 at 11:22 amIn addition to what Mike suggests, make sure that your camera is in HDV capture mode and not DV capture mode. Some HDV cameras will down convert to DV on-the-fly so you have to both have your camera in HDV mode and in Vegas Pro use the HDV Capture utility and not the DV Capture utility.
