  • Why TASCAM DR60 mk ii and Sennheiser wireless lavalier xs w t35 are not compatible?

    Hello Audio-Pros

Please advise me about the following problem:

    Here is my audio gear:

    Tascam DR 60 MKii
    Sennheiser XS t35 wireless lavaliere
    Rode NTG 4+ Shotgun mic

I many times need to use these two beautiful mics together on the same recorder; both of them are brand new and they do work on camera properly, nevertheless when I plug the lavaliere on the 3-4 channel tascam recorder, which is also brand new, there is almost no sound it can capture. I have tried different rec modes, I even put the gain high+ but it can only receive a very disturbing room noise rather than the sound. Have you ever tried to use these two together? I desperately need some advises on this issue.

    Best regards

Your Sennheiser XS t35 wireless lavaliere mic is wired for use with a wireless body pack transmitter.
But the Ch3-4 input of the Tascam recorder is wired for use with a stereo microphone.
The way in which the connectors are wired are not compatible.
It is rather remarkable that you get any sound recorded at all.
It would probably be possible to create an adapter cable that would allow plugging the Sennheiser mic into the Tascam recorder. But they are not compatible out of the box.

Recording audio without metering and monitoring is exactly like framing and focusing without looking at the viewfinder.

Hello Ugur and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

As Richard points out, you have a connector problem – a mono mic and a stereo input.

Please tell us what configuration of plug is on the sennheiser cable.

I can not find info on an XS t35. Can you give us another number?

With that info we might be able to find you an adapter, or perhaps a new cable that will go from the receiver to the recorder.

    Regards,
