  • Why no image in preview?

Posted by Richard Smith on May 7, 2008 at 2:13 pm

I use Media composer with a mojo and I’m problem viewing in the preview window but not in the timeline or program window with one bin of clips except for 3 that were batch capture a little later. When to talked to Avid about this they tried everything to find out why even to the point of rebulding the external raid system and still nothing. Has anyone seen this before? Other than recaputering the clips again what solution do I Have?

are the clips that are not playing showing up as stills when you are parked? are they at Dv25?
did you get your 500 bucks worth out of that call to Avid?
    lol
man, last time I called them all I could get was “hmm that should work”
    “hence the call, man”
I found it entertaining how they’d tell a brother stuff 180 degrees against what they advertise. From adrenaline doesn’t play HD yet to have you tried rebooting, they were always good for a cackle.
    a very expensive cackle.

but back to your problem… batch those fussy clips in DV25 and see if that doesnt get ya goin.

The clip are all ready at DV 25 as are all the other clips
when i first batched captured them and edited them into the timeline I could see in the preview just fine.

Now if I create Subclips of the clips I can’t see, I can Now see them in the preview window. Isn’t there a way to turn subclips into new master clips?

Consolidate the subclips and they will become Master Clips.

do they show up as offline?
maybe delete your database files in your omfi folder?

Here’s kind of a basic suggestion, excuse me if you find it too basic, but just trying to be helpful. Is monitoring enabled for the clips in question? It’s the litlle square box just to the left of the V1 track button when you load a source clip. I’ve found that the clip monitor state is remembered so that it was off before it’ll be off the next time the clip is loaded. If you subclip the dark clips you’re essentially creating new clips with new monitor states set to ON by default, so that may explain why the subclips are visible when the originals are not.

    Just a hunch. Good Luck!
