  • Why is web video playback better on MBP 13″ (4gb RAM) than my Mac Pro (32gb RAM)???

    Hey everyone,

This one is a real puzzle to me. My 1 year old Mac Pro is dropping frames like nobodys business playing back web videos on Vimeo and Youtube. When I play back the same videos on my 3 year old Macbook Pro 13″, they run very smoothly. I’ve tested it with a ton of different videos. I’ve performed these tests with nothing running on both computers except one Firefox window running the same web video.

Here are the specs on the two machines…

    MacPro: 32gb RAM, 2 x2.66ghz 6-Core (12 total), ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB Graphics Card, Lion 10.75

    MBP 13″: 4GB Ram, 2.66GHz Core-2, Snow Leopard 10.6.8, NVIDIA GeForce 320M Graphics

What on earth could be causing this? Graphics card issues? Allocation of RAM to certain programs? Monitor issues? (using a 27″ Apple Cinema Display).

Any help on this issue would be most appreciated.
