  • Why is Sony Vegas so bugged ?

Posted by Steven Smithsh on January 24, 2015 at 12:30 am

I think Sony Vegas is full of stupid bugs, at least when I use it.
    1. Freezes at random point when I am editing videos in 720p. (Not responding) and then I have to close the program by using Task Manager.
2.I record my gameplay videos with Mirillis Action and every time I edit the video, and then render it, it comes out darker, so I have to add Sony Levels. Why can’t it just render out normally ?
3.Preview doesn’t show me how my actual video will look like because of darker render problem.

It probably has some more problems that I can’t think off but I have experienced plenty.

    My specs :
    Cpu : Core2Duo 3.0 Ghz.
    Ram : 4GB
    Graphics : 1GB Radeon HD 6570
    Windows 7 Ultimate – 64bit OS.
    Using Sony Vegas Pro 12

Here are my specs in case someone wants to know.
My friend has older computer than mine, and he doesn’t have any problems at all.
He never had a problem with dark render or lag or anything on his computer.

If anyone could help me out with these problems that would be great.

Does this friend you mentioned, also uses Sony Vegas?

Yes.We both use Sony Vegas since Sony Vegas Pro 8.
I never had problems before, they started happening since I got Pro 12.
I know how to fix the dark render problem.I add Sony Levels. But still, I can’t exactly see how my video is going to turn out.
And lags/freezes are going on my nerves.

1] What Build of VP12 are you running? You don’t say. Have you read the BUG fixes?

2] Have you read the required specifications for running VP12? Same link as above. You may have reached the end of the road with your PC/Laptop for VP12.

NB: Please do not equate running VP9 with running VP12. Chalk and Cheese. VP12 has so much more going on that trying to have an expectation that as you’ve run VP9 you should be “go-to-go” with VP12, is unrealistic.

Now, if you should return here and say that your PC/laptop is go to go and that every update for your Win7 is in place AND you are still getting lags, we could talk again.

I’m running VP13 and am quite happy with it. Yes I have to treat my PC and VP carefully and I can get VP lags and so on, but that is of my own making, VP13 has become as stable and workable as I wish. Read my specs.

    Cheers

OK maybe my PC is not good enough.
    I get it.
But why does it export darker video than what I normally see while I edit ?
Why can’t it just export how I see the video while I edit it… ?

When you export from your Mirillis Action, have you imported the media into your friends Vegas version to see if it is also dark.?

Me, like your friend, don’t have that issue either. So it would be fair to say it is not a Vegas problem, it is your PC problem.
Update your video drivers, uninstall any codec “packs”, look into Mirillis Action compatibility issues…
