  • Why is my image blurry when I zoom in?

Posted by Paul Johnson on December 28, 2007 at 12:24 am

Basically, I have a mighty 13000 x 1600 pixel image, but when I paste it into the Vegas timeline, Vegas automatically shrinks it to fit the confines of the project window (which is 720 x 480), meaning it’s ridiculously blurry and pixellated when I zoom in.

Can I turn this option off? The Vegas help files are, as always, utterly useless. I just want images to import into Vegas at the size I drew them at.

    How did you “zoom in”?

If you use Track Motion, you’re zooming in on that VIDEO FRAME and, therefore, reducing the quality tremendously.

If you use Pan/Crop, you’re zooming in on the full sized original media and you will have MUCH better quality.

Ahh, yes, you’re quite right. I was using track motion, and pan/crop seems to have fixed it nicely. As a nice Chritsmas bonus, it’s also fixed the zooming issue I was having before!
    Cheers for all the help!
