  • Why is my HDV footage 720×480?

I am trying to capture HDV footage using a Sony GV-HD700 deck that I rented.

Footage was captured in this project months ago and the compressor in the browser clips says HVD 1080i60. Frame size: 1440×1080…

Now when I capture capture it keeps telling me that the compressor is DV/DVCPRO-NTSC frame size 720×480. I think this is happening because the only way i can get FC to recognize the deck is when I first tell it to capture NTSC… but then I switch the easy setup to HDV/HDV -1080i60. If I open final cut with the deck and tell it to use HDV/HDV -1080i60 first then it will not recognize the deck… I have tried for hours and this is the only way i can get it to capture this footage and recognize the deck – by first saying it is NTSC.

I have tried many different tapes. It was the same DP as from months ago. I know they are HDV. I have trashed preferences, restarted FC and computer several times, turned off and on the deck etc.

    Any thoughts??

Sounds like you have the deck set to output DV. Make sure it’s using HDV out and HDV control not DV.

    All the best,
