Why has my video moved?

It rather sounds like you have some unwanted KEYFRAMES on the Pan/Crop Timeline. I’ve had this when I haven’t taken notice of the creation of these unwanted KFs.

Okay, I’ll try and do it later.

All I did was insert different video clips. They played fine, but then suddenly moved position, our of screen, for no reason whatsoever.

Warren… do you mean the video has moved on the timeline or in what you see in the preview window?

If it is the timeline, check auto ripple is off, and remember the mouse wheel zooms in or out on the timeline view.

It’s moved in the preview screen, and I can’t move it back!

Hopefully this will work – I’ve taken a screenshot of the issue.

The image in the preview screen is zoomed in and moved left. Originally, when I inserted it, it filled the screen and I had played the video several times… it was fine.

Earlier in the file, I have some photos, music etc.

What I really don’t understand is why when I click on track motion, moving the box has no effect on the image!

OK, I got it:-

1/- You haven’t used Pan/Crop, because I can’t see any lit control in Pan/Crop control of that Event. But I can see Table Mountain in the Background!

2/- But you have got Track Motion active.

Look closely at the Track Header for Track 2. In it you can see a Diamond Shape on the Far Left, with a tiny little Down Arrow. Click on that and you will reveal a “Position” control for ANY media within that Track 2.

So, what you have is a Pan/Crop in that first Event – I can see it, it is lit – and secondly you have a Position active in Track Header. Once you click on that Track KeyFrame “diamond” you’ll get to the Controls and you can reset.

The issue that you’ve created for yourself is a Pan/Crop in Event1 combined with a Track Motion Position.

Thanks for the reply.

I can find what you refer to, but I don’t really understand – sorry.

So does this mean that if I click on track motion and move the box to reposition something, any other event within that track will be affected?

Why is it that when I now click on the track motion in track 2, moving the box has no effect on screen position?

What should I have done in this instance? Should I paste the main video into a different track than that of the photo, so that the video’s position isn’t effected by the photo’s position?
