Why do my straight cuts look like 1/2 frame dissolves when played frame by frame?
What causes that? Is it a bi-product of working with interlaced media? Is there a solution for it?

I think it’s because you have slid an audio track half way between frames and then snapped the video to it. Video always snaps to a frame but audio does not. In other words, you can begin audio half way between a frame then if the video follows you have that issue.
